Darwin History

One of Darwin's most famous bits of history is the bombing in WWII. Used as a key Allied military base, the city copped it from Japanese planes in 1942. The bombing was bigger than that of Pearl Harbour and became a regular thing for the rest of the war. The bombing caused the military to leave Darwin, but their impact is still evident today.

Heaps of heritage spots around Darwin include tunnels, ammo bunkers, and watchtowers. Check out the East Point Military Precinct to learn about Darwin's military history.
